Our church is seeking a new pastor! Our current pastor is planning on retirement after serving this church and community for over 12 years. We are seeking a new pastor to help lead our congregation of 75-80 worshipers (with room to grow) into the future that God holds.
Position Description
We are led by our pastor who is part of an elected team of elders that help guide the direction of the church.
Prepare Bible-based sermons and lead the Sunday morning service in coordination with the worship leader
Ex officio member of all ministries – assist, but allow self-management as appropriate
Attend ministerial meetings regarding the operation and spiritual growth of the church
Create Sunday bulletin, weekly newsletter and other church communication as necessary
Perform baptisms, weddings and funerals as needed
Hospital and home visitations
Involvement in the Milton-Freewater Ministerial Association
Recruiter and volunteer coordinator
Christ-centered counselor and social worker
Public relations – oversee webpage, newspaper announcements and community events liaison
Manage paid staff and volunteers
Other pastoral duties as they arise
Position Qualifications
Called by God to teach biblical truths
Meet the biblical qualifications in 1st Timothy 3:1-7
Prefer a bachelor’s or post graduate degree with biblical studies/seminary
Have five years' experience as lead or associate pastor – negotiable
Ability to work with the elder team to develop a vision and plan for the future of our church
Have good organizational skills to oversee a small staff and various ministries of the church
Be a great communicator in the written word, the spoken word and most importantly – God’s Word!
Must have energy and excitement in serving God and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ
