Dr. Bob Chapman grew up in Eugene, Oregon. His Christian faith was a steady thread throughout his life, beginning with his baptism at First Christian Church in 1951 and continuing through decades of involvement in congregations from Oregon to Ethiopia and Kenya.

In 1963, he married Karon L. (Gregg) Chapman, and together they raised three children—Kristi, Kelly, and Lori—and later welcomed six grandchildren.

From 1970 to 2006, Chapman served with Christian Missionary Fellowship, providing rural medical care and evangelistic outreach—first in Ethiopia and later for nearly three decades in Kenya’s Turkana District. His work blended clinical service, community health, and ministry in some of the most remote regions of East Africa.

After returning to the United States, he continued to invest in future generations of missionaries as an adjunct professor at Northwest Christian College/University and New Hope Christian College. His publications include a Turkana Bible reading guide and a historical account of CMF’s work in Turkana.
