Supervisor, Physical Plant--Boise Bible College (Boise, ID)

The Supervisor of Physical Plant manages all aspects of the physical plant (facilities maintenance, custodial service, groundskeeping, motor pool) facilities daily campus operations.


The ability to understand the landscape of basic construction trades, know relevant building codes and related regulations, teach/train student workers, and build relationships, is paramount in this position.


Equivalent work experience in facility management, campus operations, construction trades, or a similar field is preferred.


This is a full-time position with occasional extended hours due to on-campus events, meetings and appointments, and/or travel schedules.


The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Plan, organize, and direct physical plant and related operations. Administer programs, resources, and budgets. Provide technical consultation in facilities management as needed.

Determine the staffing needs of the department. Interview/hire qualified staff, certify payroll, evaluate performance, and set work priorities. Train staff in regulations, procedures, and operations.

Manage programs for preventive and special maintenance of facilities, equipment, grounds, custodial services, motor pool, and associated major subsystems. Determine if on-site or vendor repair is appropriate. Solicit competing bids/proposals/quotations from vendors. Develop contract and service agreements for administrator approval, initiate purchase requisitions for supplies/equipment, coordinate vendor work and ensure compliance with terms, and submit invoices for payment.

Inspect buildings, grounds, and related systems for maintenance and repair needs. Plan daily and long-term projects for facility needs. Facilitate scheduled maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, and motor pool.

Maintain and improve the aesthetics of the campus. Facilitate a “wow” first impression for campus guests (tidy, clean, attractive). Develop campus softscapes and hardscapes for attractiveness and functionality.

Supervise the cleanliness and organization of the physical plant office, shop, outbuildings, and surrounding areas. Maintain inventory of all parts, tools, and equipment. Maintain a running inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for any custodial operations being performed by student workers.

Supervise the setting up and taking down of equipment for special College functions.

Assure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, city ordinances, and state and federal law.

Oversee the safe disposal of hazardous and infectious materials. Minimize the environmental impact of the physical plant through energy conservation techniques and best practices.

Oversee safety and security programs.
